The Lewis men’s soccer team defeated the 14th-ranked University of Charleston in the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals on Saturday with a 4-1 victory!
Although Charleston jumped out on top early in the contest, Lewis knotted the score at 1-1 later in the half when Jose Ibarra scored the game-tying goal in the 29th minute on an assist by Kipp Cartwright. The Flyers received the game-winning goal from senior Nestor Hernandez in the 72nd minute, and Cartwright added an insurance goal for the Flyers in the 80th minute.
With the win, Lewis improves their unbeaten streak to 11-games and their record to 16-3-2. The Flyers will face Lees-McRae in the NCAA Semifinal match-up on Thursday, December 3rd in Tampa at Pepin Stadium, the site of the Final Four.
